Acclaim marks another AFL season

Acclaim are taking a punt and releasing another AFL simulation just six months after their last game hit the shelves. AFL Live Premiership Edition will be out in time for the traditional Anzac Day blockbuster and lets fans play the 2004 AFL fixture with this year’s full teams.

Other welcome features include Brownlow and Norm Smith medals, an All-Australian team of superstars and traditional team jumpers for the Heritage Round. Other treats include unlockable video clips, an updated MCG in keeping with the current ground works, and the new Wizard Cup rules for the pre-season competition.

Gameplay improvements are minor, but include a radar and higher difficulty. Multiplayer missions have been added, and the PS2 version supports four players using a multi-tap. Acclaim says many of the new inclusions were in response to fan feedback. “AFL Live Premiership Edition not only gives our consumers a completely updated game but more importantly it gives it to them at the beginning of the season,” said Acclaim’s Andrew Weatherburn. “This will enable the gamer to play round by round in line with the weekly televised matches.”

Premiership Edition will be released for PlayStation2, Xbox and PC on April 23.
