Turok's back, baby! Buena Vista Games, the gaming arm of Disney, has secured the rights to use Epic Games' Unreal 3 engine for several next-gen projects. BVG also revealed that the first title to use the Unreal 3 tech would be a next-gen entry in the Turok: Dinosaur Hunter franchise. The new Turok will be developed by Propaganda Games studio in Vancouver, British Columbia.
BVG's desire to leverage the Turok franchise is interesting, considering the last several versions of that game (particularly Turok: Evolution for the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube) bombed at retail counters. Perhaps BVG sees potential in the series' early Nintendo 64 success.
In any event, a next-gen Turok with eye-popping jungle environments and bigger, badder dinosaurs could be just what the beleagured series needs to regain its footing.
