It took them a while, but Nintendo appears to have officially warmed to DLC, and will offer the functionality for some of its major franchise titles beginning in May.
The news was confirmed by NIntendo Monday in a press release, which said the "Wii Want More" service will be available via the Wii Shop channel for titles like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Starting May 13, 2008, players will be able to add four undisclosed new characters and two new stages to Super Smash Bros. Brawl for US$10.00. "Our customers will be even more pleased to discover that this particular package will be offered completely free of charge for the first month after the launch of Wii Want More," the release said.
Twenty-seven games will have updates in all, including Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Mario Kart Wii, as well as several titles available through the Wii Ware service.
