Square: Final Fantasy XIII ship date rumors 'erroneous' (News)

"Although information regarding the release date of Final Fantasy XIII has been reported by certain videogame Web sites, Square Enix itself has yet to make an official statement on this topic," the company said on Wednesday.

"Any reports of a confirmed release date are erroneous and should be disregarded. Square Enix will make an official announcement in the future concerning the release date when it has been determined."

Reports of a 2008 released date surfaced early this week when suggestive comments made by director Motomu Toriyama were interpreted as confirming launch for later this year. In actuality, Toriyama only implied a playable demo.
