"We purposely put some of those old-school bugs into this game, so it does recreate that feel," producer Hironobu Takeshita told Gamasutra. "In the part with the dragon with the flame, [there should be] flickering and whatnot."
As Takeshita explains, original Mega Man games of the 80s experienced screen flickering and slow-down when more than three enemies were on the screen at once. To recreate the retro feel for the upcoming Mega Man 9, the bugs will be included for purist players.
Thankfully, the simulated slow down can be turned off, says Takeshita. "In the options of this game, you can adjust [flicker], unlike the old games."
Mega Man 9 is scheduled for downloadable release on Wii Ware, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network this fall.
