Over 150 million PS2 Games Sold in Europe (News)

Game players in European territories (which strangely enough includes Australia, thanks to our PAL TV format) have purchased over 150 million PS2 games – enough discs, when laid end to end, to stretch half way around the world.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has a disc replication, printing and packaging plant in Salzburg, Austria, and in October a record 20 million PS2 discs were produced. November looks set to break that record, with 25 million discs expected to make it onto store shelves in time for the holiday season.

On average, each PlayStation2 owner has nearly 6 games, a figure that’s expected to rise over the next few months as more hot games appear. The total number of individual game titles produced to date for the PS2 is over 700, with a further 80 titles expected before the end of 2003.
