The world's two biggest game publishers, EA and Activision, announced two high-profile games on Tuesday for release on Macintosh later this year. Though Apple's lineup of games still pales in comparison to that of the PC library, Cupertino is increasingly becoming a target in the sights of game makers given the rise of Macintosh computers, thanks to the iPod effect.
In addition to announcing several titles last August like Tiger Woods, The Sims, and Need for Speed , EA says it will be bringing the highly anticipated Spore to Macintosh later this year (predicated of course on the release of the game, which still isn't set). The game is currently running on Macs at the Macworld Expo this week, however.
Activision, for its part, is bringing the critically-acclaimed and massive-selling Call of Duty 4 to Mac this May for US$49.99, online multiplayer included. Finally, Macintosh owners can put their beefy graphics cards to good use.
