After the new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer, there's nothing that Konami could possibly show us that would surprise us. Or is there?
Announcing its 2007-08 slate in short order. Highlights included Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party for the Wii, Contra for the DS, Castlevania for the PSP, and, of course, Metal Gear Solid 4.
The company's major announcement at the brief conference was Silent Hill V for next generation consoles. With a deep, foreboding voice warning of the depths of of horror than can be wrought by desperation, marked only by the roman numeral V embedded in fire.
Silent Hill V's protagonist is Alex Shepard, a war veteran who returns home to an even greater terror. Shepard's only remaining family, his younger brother, has gone missing, and he must make use of his military training to save him. The music composer from the previous iterations is on board, so the great, creepy tunes and excellent alternative soundtrack should be back in full force.
After the revelation of Silent Hill V, Kojima was brought out to introduce the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer that was premiered at Sony's press conference earlier in the day. Kojima explained his reasoning for showing the trailer and coming to E3, stating that he feels a strong bond to the show he's attended since 1995, and that he was confident that "my E3 will return next year". The conference concluded with a re-airing of the epic MGS4 trailer.
