For Nintendo's upcoming Wii Ware service, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Dr. Mario are just the tip of the iceberg.
This week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said that in addition to the handful of named first- and third-party Wii Ware titles due out in March 2008, there are more than 100 more projects in the hopper ready to be downloaded via the Wii Shop Channel.
"We've already received proposals for over 100 titles from software development companies," Iwata said at a press conference. "We've made a platform for developing software at low cost, and would like to offer a new business chance based around a battle of ideas."
Iwata added that Wii Ware, which was announced in June, will offer short, creative titles, created on smaller budget that their retail version brethren.
So far the following Wii Ware games have been announced: Pokemon Ranch Channel, Dr. Mario, Maruboushikaku, Minna de Puzzloop, Okiraku Ping Pong Wii, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Star Soldier R, Mojipittan Wii, Bomberman, and Joy Sound.
