Portal 2 unknowingly confirmed by Valve (News)

Though expected given its critical and commercial success, not to mention official statements suggesting the same, a Portal sequel was confirmed on Thursday by the game's lead designer.

"I believe Doug Lombardi, who is our lead marketing director at Valve, has announced Portal 2," said Kimberly Swift in speaking with G4TV. Ironically, Lombardi has made no such announcement, though Valve has previously said more Portal was on its way.

Portal is a highly creative FPS puzzle game, bundled in Half-Life 2: The Orange Box. Its unique style, particularly its level design and witty dialogue, has been well received by both critics and gamers alike.

On Wednesday, Portal was named the best overall game of 2007 at the Game Developers Choice Awards in San Francisco.
