Alongside executive producer Peter Jackson, Neill Blomkamp is set to make his feature film debut as director of the Halo movie, set to release in Summer 2008.
Halo fans rejoice as Blomkamp is said to be one of the most innovative and original directors to date. Working in short films, his expertise lies deep in extraterrestrial sci-fi plots, blending original storytelling with photorealistic computer graphics. And with the help of Jackson's talented team at WETA, Halo should rival the likes of Lord of the Rings.
Good news for fans of Halo and Peter Jackson alike who had this to say about the announcement. "Fran and I are intrigued by the unique challenges this project offers, and we're delighted to be working again with our friends at Universal, and with our new ones at Fox and Microsoft. With Neill on board, I'm even more excited by the potential of this project."
Blomkamp's most recent project, Alive in Joburg, has received critical acclaim, awarding him "One of the Top Five Directors to Watch" at the First Boards Awards.
