Did you expect to see Sony staple Wipeout HD at E3 this year? A lot of people did, but an unforeseen "technical issue" sidelined the title until late 2008.
Wipeout HD was a playable title at last year's Tokyo Game Show, so its absence at this week's E3 was a bit of a surprise.
On Friday, Sony officially addressed the no-show title, as reps said developers of the game were having trouble fixing some "technical issues." Those issues have no delayed the PlayStation Network title indefinitely.
"There is a specific technical problem with Wipeout that we have to solve," said Sony Europe president and CEO David Reeves during an interview with Eurogamer. "I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment."
With the delay, Wipeout HD has been pushed back to the "end of the year," Reeves said, although even that time frame was called into question.
"I think it will come out before the end of the year but it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with," Reeves said.
