Despite losing a pair of original creators, God of War 3 for PS3 will deliver upon release, according to erstwhile director Cory Barlog.

"I know for the God of War fans out there it might be a bummer that I am not working [nor is David Jaffe] on God of War 3," writes Barlog on his personal blog. "But rest assured that it is all in good hands. The Sony Santa Monica team is one of the best teams I have ever worked with."

Additionally, Bartlog assuages that the story and foundation of the third game were completed before his departure, easing concerns that Kratos's latest adventure may not be up to par.

"The story is going to finish off with a very big, very epic bang," he says. "I think everyone will be quite pleased."

In November 2007, Barlog left SCEA for unknown reasons, just four months after founding designer David Jaffe left the company to start his own independent game studio, Eat Sleep Play.

God of War 3 is scheduled for release on PS3 some time in 2009.
