According to Variety, the confirmed game takes place in New York City circa the early 90s, after the events of the second film.

Leading cast in addition to some supporting roles are all on board including Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Sadly, the Keymaster (aka Rick Moranis) is glaringly absent.

Additionally, Akroyd and Ramis are writing the story for the game to be published by Sierra late next year on DS, PC, PS2, PS3, 360 and Wii.

"We noticed we did well on 'Scarface' and were alert for new opportunities to turn iconic film products into games in a way that is a new manifestation of the franchise," said Vivendi Games CEO, Bruce Hack. "'Ghostbusters' is unquestionably among the small number of movies in that class."
