Microsoft Games Manager: Halo 3 Must Have "Huge Significance" (News)

Though Halo 3 still hasn't been officially announced yet, there's good indication that the game won't be released in 2006.

That's based off a recent interview with Shane Kim, general manager for Microsoft Game Studios. In speaking of what he called "the Mythical Halo 3," Kim notes that although the game is not officially in existence, Microsoft "would be careful about how we announce and introduce" the game when the time is right.

When asked whether Halo 3 was coming out in 2006, Kim's cryptic response was "it depends." He compared rampant Halo 3 gossip to the way "people wanted [Halo 2] a year after Halo."

"That," Kim says, "would not have accomplished anything."

"[Halo 3] has to be something with huge significance, so we won't be rushed."

Whether that "huge significance" somehow relates to the Peter Jackson-produced Halo movie now in production waits to be seen. Some decent level design, cinematics, dialogue and ending wouldn't go astray either.
