Following on from the recent release of the latest James Bond video game, Everything or Nothing, Electronic Arts has confirmed widespread rumours that it is working on a sequel to what many gamers agree was the greatest console first-person shooter of all time, GoldenEye on Nintendo64.
The classic 007 game is being reworked and updated for today's consoles (formats are not yet known, but it is expected to be for PS2 and Xbox and probably GameCube too), and looks set to be released in Quarter 3 of 2004 (Australian spring). Travis Rutherford, senior vice president of MGM consumer products - the company which holds the James Bond license - said: "We look forward to continued success with this release of a new chapter in the Bond saga and the creation of another blockbuster franchise in GoldenEye 2."
While the original GoldenEye was the work of Rare (a UK-based developer now owned by Microsoft), the sequel is being made by EA's Los Angeles studio.
