My brother just picked this one up plast week. I must say, I quite enjoyed it. The possession thing was quite a refreshing and unique thing and it was always enjoyable figuring out what to possess and then scaring people.
The actual gunplay parts weren't as good as, say, your TimeSplitters or your Halo, but they were above average in my mind and more than enjoyable. The only major criticism I have of the single player game is the final boss. The control set up changes completely, so you're used to the controls all through the game and then suddenly, they change. It jsut took a bit of getting used to and I showed that guy what for. But it was more than a little disorientating.
The multiplayer is also a most enjoyable aspect. The possession thing makes it different from other games out there and it works well. You can jump from being a bunny to being a turret gun to being a human. Only humans can kill things though, except for missiles and turrets of course.
So, yeah, Geist, had a lot of fun with it. After reading so-so reviews, I wasn't expecting much but I came away quite impressed. And with N-Space saying they have a few Revolution projects going on, perhaps we might see some more Geist action; the controller would be great for it, don't you think? |
