Well . . . . here's a damn good reason why MS is seriously looking at launching Xenon (working Codename) by Christmas 2005.

Not only will it fit in with release dates on several major games that are currently being developed for it, but Sony have stated openly that . . . and I quote . . .

Kutaragi-san said: "There has been some talk that development for a next generation game console has not been going well, but we will have a playable version ready by next spring," said Sony's game division head, Ken Kutaragi.

"In a Press Conference today, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) clarified the companys plans regarding their next-generation PlayStation.

Sony Computer Entertainment said that it will announce its "next-generation PlayStation" by the end of the FY2004 (which means before March 2005).

The company also announced plans to exhibit it at next year's E3 show. Ken Kutaragi announced that Sony is not running late with their next-generation plans and that they are working towards delivering a playable PlayStation 3 at E3 2005.
Kutaragi also said that there will be a PlayStation 3 Premiere before March 2005 and if they follow the PlayStation 2 debut we might see some Broadband Engine (PlayStation 3's CELL based CPU according to industry voices) presentations around mid January 2005."

This of course fits in well with a huge amount of news and gossip that so many have been "boo-hooing" of late. When in actual fact, it only ads even more weight to the possibility, if not certainty, that we will see the Next Generation Xbox, codenamed Xenon, by Christmas 2005.
