Two screens, touch screen, built-in microphone, LAN, Wi-Fi compatible, GBA backwards compatibility and graphics far surpassing the N64 and sometimes parelling Gamecube (look at Metroid: Hunters). This, ladies and gentlemen is the Nintendo DS. The best part? It's coming out in Australia at the start of 2005. What are your thoughts?

Well one thing i need to get of my chest .. why are we always freaking last in getting the good stuff!

I believe the Nintendo DS will give nintendo the boost to become number one again. My only complaint about the system is the lack of an analog stick, that would have made it heaps better to play. Even though no nintendo handheld has had this feature before, it would have been nice to include it.

I can't wait till developers start making some truly ground breaking games on the system. I wonder if they will port their old N64 games to the system ? Playing conker on it would be awesome !

Well, they're definitely not going to be putting Conker on the ol' DS as Microsoft owns the rights to it, although Microsoft does have a deal with Nintendo whereby they can make games for GBA by having THQ publish them.

Microsoft just aren't content to be making money everywhere else so they have to go to the GBA. There are reports that Rare are developing for DS and its rumoured that a It's Mr Pants game has already been completed but THQ are refusing to publish it.

microsft owns all the rights to rare's work, yet we have a Banjo & sabrewulf title with banjo Pilot to come on gba.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rare/Microsft supported Nintendo's DS. It would work well for both companies. Nintendo & Rare are still on good terms and seeing as they have experience in similar technology as well as the franchise power, Microsft could stand to make a pretty penny.
