Celebrate Pac-Man's 30th by playing the Google logo
Namco's big yellow guy turns 30 today and Google celebrates by turning their logo into a playable game of Pac-Man for the day. This "doodle" (the official name for Google's holiday makeovers) has 255 levels plus a 256th-level kill screen, just like the original arcade game.

Sonic 4 confirmed for iPhone, delayed past the summer
Sonic's return to 2D on consoles is coming along a bit slower than expected. Sega delivered the news today on the company's official blog, stating that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be coming out "in late 2010," as opposed to the summer released promised at the time of the game's announcement. To help buffer the bad news, Sega announced that Sonic 4 will also be coming to the iPod Touch and iPhone, solving the mystery of the "question mark platform" that had existed on the game's official site until recently.

Will Wright's next project is a reality show
With classic video games like The Sims and Spore under his belt, Will Wright is devoting his creativity to a form of media that truly needs it -- reality television. IGN recently learned that Wright will be helping produce a program called The Creation Project, in which viewers will be able to submit their story ideas, discuss them, and vote for a favorite. The winner will have their idea turned into two half hour episodes. The amount of episodes devoted to discovering the idea has not been disclosed, nor has the network that the program will air on -- though Current is listed as an affiliate for the project.

New Pac-Man coin-op game to debut this weekend
Namco Bandai has a teaser video up on YouTube that shows a title the company is planning on debuting during this weekend's Amusement Expo in Las Vegas. Besides including the game's signature startup tune and Championship Edition-style text, the teaser shows nothing else of the game besides its logo.

In an interview with the LA Times posted Valentine's Day, Jimi Hendrix's stepsister detailed a new deal with Sony Music to distribute the rocker's music "through every type of media," including a new edition of Rock Band that Janie Hendrix says should appear this year.

Obsidian moves forward with The Wheel of Time video game
Red Eagle announced plans to create a game based on the late Robert Jordan's 15-book long series (still in progress under author Brandon Sanderson) in November of 2008 after acquiring the rights to the series. Not much was said about the project after that point, though Red Eagle did sign a publishing deal with EA for the title.

The Church of England has not been accepting of video games in the past, decrying Sony's use of the Manchester Cathedral in the PlayStation 3 game Resistance: Fall of Man. The country's scientific community have also rallied against gaming, with former director of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, Baroness Susan Greenberg, using her position to speak against the adverse physical effects of playing video games. And now, a former politician-turned-church official is adding another element of cross-continental criticism.
