FIFINE A6V Review

FIFINE A6V Review » Professional, Made Affordable

Small in stature, powerful in performance. Here's my FIFINE A6V review.

FIFINE A6V Microphone
Making light work of the basics whilst throwing in a generous helping of accessories, the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame microphone is well suited to gamers, streamers and startup podcasts. It's base performance is superb and the gain control is just about enough.

In addition, whilst limited to a single Cardioid polar pattern, the FIFINE A6V does well with noise control and clearly inputs sound from about 60-80cm away without feeling the need to raise your voice. The built-in amplifier, tripod, pop filter and shock mount are cool bonuses and it's plug and play nature is a godsend.

If you're a startup Twitch streamer, or someone who is looking to amplify team comms, the FIFINE will do just FINE! Ha-Geddit? 😂

To say I was excited to review the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame would be an understatement. After all, with over 4,000 reviews at an average rating of 4.6 stars on Amazon, I couldn’t wait to see what all the fuss was about.

If you have read my stripped-down review verdict above, you will already know that, despite a slew of high-quality gaming microphones hitting the shelves of late, the FIFINE A6V delivered to my expectations for the most part.

But is it right for you? Let’s find out! 👇

Design

Out of the box, the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame USB microphone could almost be mistaken for a lightweight version of the HyperX QuadCast.

But it’s not, and that’s a good thing.

As a cylindrical Cardioid microphone, the A6V is compact, practical and portable. The all-black coating (including the accessories) makes for a more professional vibe, but that soon turns into gamer mode when you plug the USB connector into your computer and bear witness to the single RGB lighting zone that wraps around almost the entire circumference.

Whilst the lightweight nature of the FIFINE A6V (just 500g) ultimately gives off the impression that its core will not be particularly durable, the stability of the tripod and the strength of the shock mount quickly make those fears dissipate.

That said, it does feel a little cheap in places but it is cheap and there has to be compromise somewhere, right?

Features & Specifications

For its feature stack, this is where the FIFINE A6V USB microphone shines.

Complete with a tripod, attached shock mount, pop filter, adjustable arm and a built-in amplifier that genuinely amplifies your voice, the FIFINE A6V promises to give startup Twitch streamers and YouTubers the perfect head start.

If you were to buy all these components separately, you would be looking at an additional 50% on top of your original microphone purchase price and so, I can forgive the tripod for being a little stiff here. It’s a complete package that takes less than 15 seconds to assemble once you’ve connected the microphone to your computer via a USB connection.

Beyond this, the FIFINE A6V also gifts a noise-free tap-to-mute button and a two-tone RGB lighting zone that lets you know when you’re on mute.

Whilst there’s a gain control function that works relatively smoothly, it would have been nice to see a few other features added to the microphone. However, once more, it’s so cheap that wouldn’t be possible.

Microphone Performance

I’m always a little sceptical when it comes to plug-and-play microphones. After all, having spent years with my Blue Yeti X where customisation is in abundance, the thought of limited controls is somewhat nerving.

That said, the FIFINE A6V, for the most part, delivered a great performance.

When situated about 60cm away and slightly offset to the left-hand side, the Cardioid microphone collected my voice well, picking up barely any background noise. I had to fiddle a little with the gain control to ensure that there was no popping, however, we’re only talking about a small amount of adjusting here.

Through playback, there was an ever-so-faint white noise when listening through Facebook Messenger, however, when directly playing back from my Windows PC, the sound quality was near-crystal. For testing purposes, I opened my windows and turned on my air conditioning to find that none of that background noise was collected which, frankly, came as a surprise.

The discerning muso will absolutely find flaws here and I would love to have seen an Omnidirectional polar included. Yet, for 99% of the population, the FIFINE A6V delivers a microphone experience that is beyond its price tag.

Note: I wouldn’t recommend sitting much further than 60-80cm away from the microphone as you will start to fade into the distance. However, the most popular gaming desks stand at around 60cm deep and so placement issues are unlikely.

Compatibility

Currently, the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame microphone is compatible with Windows PC, Mac OS, PS4 & PS5. For all 3 devices, the A6V AmpliGame is connected via a USB-C connection and will instantly start working once you have plugged it into your device.

There are no compatible apps, it’s just plug-and-play.

For Windows & Mac users, once connected via USB, you will then need to head on over to your system settings to select the primary input source of your microphone as the FIFINE A6V does not override your current settings. However, for the PS4 & PS5, the FIFINE A6V will instantly become the go-to input source for these platforms.

Personally, I see no reason to buy this microphone for PlayStation as the Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset also delivers a strong microphone experience. However, if you are a PlayStation gamer who is casting your stream directly from your console, then the FIFINE A6V will be a solid friend in this department.

Price & Value

For the accessories alone, when you consider that you can pick up the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame for less than $7o in Australia, there is so much value here with this microphone that it’s actually a little overpowered.

Even more so when you hear your first playback and find out that the audio pickup of the microphone is actually half decent too.

With such stiff competition in the budget microphone space, the FIFINE A6V really picks up the mantle here and starts to make you question why other gaming microphones cost so much. That is, of course, you just need the very basics.

Why Buy?

With all that said, you’re probably starting to make up your own mind about whether the FIFINE A6V is right for you. However, if you are still unsure, here are a few reasons why you should and shouldn’t buy this budget gaming microphone:

You should buy the FIFINE A6V Microphone if:

  • You want to spend less than $80.
  • You are happy with a single Cardioid polar pattern.
  • You are just starting in the Twitch world.
  • You play on PC, Mac or PS4/PS5.
  • You are going to be travelling.
  • You are happy without sound controls.

You should not buy the FIFINE A6V Microphone if:

  • You can afford something like the HyperX Solocast
  • You play video games on Xbox.
  • You will be podcasting in-person interviews.
  • You need more than just gain controls.
  • You have limited USB ports.

FIFINE A6V Microphone Review

FIFINE A6V Review Verdict.

I am going to make an incredibly bold statement here and say that the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame microphone is the best budget microphone I have tested this year.

Whilst there are a few things missing from my wishlist, such as a wireless model and an Omnidirectional polar, all of this quickly gets diminished when I take into account the out-of-the-box quality that the FIFINE A6V drives without any customisation.

Compared to the fiddling around I had to endure with my Blue Yeti X (which I still love by the way), the simplistic plug-and-play nature of the FIFINE A6V was actually rather astounding. From the sound pickup to the background noise reduction, it just gets the basics right and I love that.

And, that’s before you get to the healthy dose of accessories.

There’s a place for microphones like the FIFINE A6V AmpliGame and they belong in the homes of gamers who want an easy-to-use microphone that does all of the basics right with a little bit of pizazz. Overall, the FIFINE A6V is an excellent choice for starter streamers and budding YouTubers.
