Best Strength Weapons Elden Ring

Best Strength Weapons In Elden Ring (Early & Late Game)

Deal max damage with these insane Elden Ring strength scaling weapons.

Slashing dents into your enemy is super satisfying in The Lands Between and the best strength weapons in Elden Ring are all geared up for that exact effect. One slice will kill weaklings, and two slashes kill bosses (or at least that’s the hope).

But there’s a catch. These weapons are gigantic, heavy, and take half a decade to swing. So, if you want to wield these beasts, you’ll have to pump iron and down protein shakes like you’re preparing for the Royal Rumble.

But which are the best strength weapons in Elden Ring? Let’s find out! 👇

Greatsword - Elden Ring Weapon

Greatsword

Type: Standard  »  Skill: Stamp (Upward Cut)

Unlock Location: In a carriage guarded by giant dogs in Dragonbarrow.

If you’re unfamiliar with this classic sword, you might pass it up for some of the more ornate weaponry. But that would be a mistake, as the Greatsword is one of the most popular strength weapons in Elden Ring and there are three reasons for this.

First, the Greatsword is ‘Guts’ iconic sword from Beserk, a manga beloved by the FromSoftware team and their fans. Second, the Greatsword has raw power and its base damage is the highest in the game. Third, it’s also really easy to acquire and what’s not to love about that?

With so much going for the Greatsword, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular in Elden Ring. However, there is a hefty 31-strength requirement and it weighs a load too.

Greatsword Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: C
  • Dexterity: E

Grafted Blade Greatsword - Elden Ring Weapon

Grafted Blade Greatsword

Type: Standard  »  Skill: Oath of Vengeance

Unlock Location: Defeat Leonine Misbegotten in Castle Morne on the Weeping Peninsula.

The Grafted Blade Greatsword is a massive and asymmetrical tangle of jagged and twisted blades that deal high damage and scale nicely with strength builds.

Whilst it might not be as deadly as the Greatsword, its skill is far better. The Oath of Vengeance skill buffs all Attributes by five points for a minute.

That’s 40x free levels, and you can even switch weapons with it. Strength build or not, who couldn’t use forty additional levels during the mid-game?

Just be warned that its Strength requirement is truly excessive. It needs 40 Strength.

Grafted Blade Greatsword Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: C
  • Dexterity: E

Nightrider Glaive - Elden Ring Weapon

Nightrider Glaive

Type: Slash/Pierce  »  Skill: Spinning Slash

Location: Dropped by Night’s Cavalry between East Raya Lucaria Gate and Bellum Church.

For a strength weapon that is a little more versatile, try the ugly but devastating Nightrider Glaider (it’s more of a halberd). The super long range of the Nightraider Glaive keeps you safe while you jab and stab, and its Spinning Slash skill is the perfect pirouette for when you’re surrounded by perps.

Sure, it’s not what you would think when you’re going for Strength scaling weapons, but it will keep things fresh, and its relatively low weight (12) makes it a great backup for punishing speedy sneaks in PvP.

Nightrider Glaive Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: C
  • Dexterity: E

Ghizas Wheel - Elden Ring

Ghiza’s Wheel

Type: Standard  »  Skill: Spinning Wheel

Unlock Location: Dropped by Inquisitor Ghiza in Volcano Manor

Ghiza’s Wheel is a double threat: high damage and an added bleed effect.

When wielded, the Ghiza’s wheel is an absolute pleasure to play with as you watch bosses hurt and haemorrhage with the Ghiza’s Spinning Wheel skill. Whilst you do have to beat an enemy invader to get it, the Inquisitor Ghiza is nowhere near as tough as you will be when you have this strength weapon in your inventory

He’s vulnerable to all Status Effects, and staggers like a drunk. So just coat your weapons in any type of grease, avoid bleeding out, and you’ll have a new weapon to show off to your mates.

Ghiza’s Wheel Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: D
  • Dexterity: D

Brick Hammer - Elden Ring Weapon

Brick Hammer

Type: Strike  »  Skill: Barbaric Roar

Unlock Location: On a corpse hanging over a ledge in Stormveil Castle.

The old Brick Hammer is a silly, caveman weapon. It’s literally a brick on a stick, but you would hate to get hit by one. It’s strength scaling is a terror and the Barbaric Roar skill buffs its damage further still.

If you are planning on creating a dedicated strength build in Elden Ring then you can use the Brick Hammer all game long if you like. Its base damage might be outshone by the Giant-Crusher, but the Brick Hammer’s strength scaling is better. Plus, its requirements to wield are lighter and you don’t have to fight the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to get it.

Just find the corpse in Stormveil Castle and away you go!

Brick Hammer Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: B

Starscourge Greatsword - Elden Ring Weapon

Starscourge Greatsword

Type: Physical/Holy  »  Skill: Starcaller Cry

Unlock Location: Trade Remembrance of the Starscourge at Roundtable Hold.

Dual-wielding greatswords is probably impossible, but it looks awesome with the Starscourge Greatsword. Even better, is the unique skill, Starcaller Cry, which is stunning.

First, it pulls your foes in like a black hole, then your swords crash down with purple lightning. It’ll clear any ambush or room within seconds. But besides looking cool, the Starscourge Greatsword is just generally a respectable Strength weapon in Elden Ring.

Its base damage is 129, with 83 magic damage, and its jump attacks have a 1.5x damage multiplier. The only downside is that, unlike most other Colossal Swords, it has low Stagger damage.

Starscourge Greatsword Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: D
  • Dexterity: E

Godslayer's Greatsword Faith Weapon

Godslayer’s Greatsword

Type: Physical/Fire  »  Skill: The Queen’s Black Flame

Unlock Location: Defeat Godskin Apostle in the Divine Tower of Caelid.

A “quick greatsword” in Elden Ring is an oxymoron, but if you want one anyway then you’re in luck. The Godslayer’s Greatsword swings like a longsword and makes for a great boss weapon. Use The Queen’s Black Flame skill, get in a few slashes, and then watch as the boss burns (especially the Elden Beast).

There are some caveats though. Its base damage is lacking in comparison to some of the other strength weapons on this list, and its requirements are, almost, a flat 20 across Strength, Faith and Dexterity. So a pure Strength build will baulk and walk (away). But if you’re playing a more jack-of-all-trades type, you’ll be pleased to know that the Godslayer’s Greatsword is also one of the best Faith weapons in Elden Ring also!

Godslayer’s Greatsword Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: D
  • Dexterity: D
  • Faith: D

Axe of Godrick - Elden Ring Weapon

Axe of Godrick

Type: Standard  »  Skill: I Command Thee, Kneel!

Unlock Location: Trade Remembrance of the Grafted at Roundtable Hold.

The Axe of Godrick is the most balanced strength weapon available in Elden Ring. It has no stand-out skill or strength, but it has no great flaws either. Plus, although its attribute requirements are high (34 Strength and 22 Dexterity), its compatriots require far more to wield.

The everyman’s weapon if you will.

The added skill with the Axe of Godrick is a ground-pound that comes with great range, but light damage. As much as this description might make the Axe of Godrick seem a little bland, it’s heavily underrated.

Hidden beneath its average exterior is a versatile, powerful weapon that can be relied on– whether in PvE or PvP. So if you just want a strength weapon that is a good all-rounder, the Axe of Godrick is a great selection.

Axe of Godrick Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: D
  • Dexterity: D

Prelates Inferno Crozier - Elden Ring Weapon

Prelates Inferno Crozier

Type: Strike  »  Skill: Prelates Charge

Unlock Location: Dropped by Fire Prelate in Fort Laiedd.

The Crozier’s steel flames look cool– it might even be the coolest looking weapon on this list– but its skill is awesome. It’s a hammer drop, a flame charge and a home run put together. Few weapons can flatten or ragdoll enemies in Elden Ring, and the Crozier is one of them. Besides all that, its base damage is outstanding, its scaling is pretty good, and it’s a little slow– but there’s no denying that it’s badass to use.

Prelates Inferno Crozier Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: C
  • Dexterity: E

Ruins Greatsword - Elden Ring Weapon

Ruins Greatsword

Type: Standard  »  Skill: Wave of Destruction

Unlock Location: Defeat Misbegotten Warrior & Crucible Knight at the Redmane Castle Plaza.

If you’re doing the unusual “smart and strong” build, the Ruins Greatsword is the only weapon on this list that’ll satisfy. It requires 15 intelligence and scales lightly with it. But what you want this curled crusher for is its Active Skill. Wave of Destruction calls down a line of destructive lightning and clears armies in a single cast. Paired with the Cerulean Hidden Tear, you can become a musclebound sorcerer, devastating The Lands Between with purple lightning.

Ruins Greatsword Initial Attribute Scaling:

  • Strength: D
  • Intelligence: E

Are Strength Builds Still Good In Elden Ring?

Despite the fact that strength builds have some notable weaknesses. such as being open to counterattacks, they are still one of the best builds in Elden Ring. After all, the ability to slice through enemies with just a few hits is a massive benefit. For gamers who are adept at sword fighting, strength builds are extremely enjoyable and your skills in dodging counterattacks will keep you alive.

If you are someone who isn’t all that great with swinging a sword, opting for ranged attacks and faith builds will definitely help you get through the latter stages of the game.

If you are just starting out with your strength build, there are a few things you should know. First, you should choose the Vagabond class (or sometimes Hero) and invest in Vigor, Poise, Faith and Endurance skill points. In addition, be sure to check out the Beast Incantations as they scale with Strength seamlessly.

Everything else you’ll figure out along the way, so enjoy crushing your foes!

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about Elden Ring strength weapons and builds? Here are the most commonly asked questions we receive from Elden Ring fans about strength weapons in The Lands Between.

What is the best early game strength weapon in Elden Ring?

In the early game, The Great Axe in Elden Ring is the best strength weapon and can be found located in the chest of the first carriage that you see near Stormveil Castle. If you cannot wait until you stumble across the Greatsword, then the Great Axe should be your go-to weapon at the start of the game.

What is the best strength weapon against Elden beast?

To defeat the Elden Beast, you are going to want to select a strength weapon that deals lingering percentage damage. For this, any weapon with Black Flame skill is extremely useful and you will find this on weapons such as the Godslayer’s Greatsword. Just max up your skill and swing it a few times to slay the Elden Beast in record time.

Is the Godrick axe or dragon better?

Whilst very similar, the Godrick Axe is better for strength scaling builds as this powerfully scales with both Strength and Dexterity. Given that strength weapons are extremely heavy, you are going to want to balance this with Dexterity so you don’t get caught out with counterattacks.
