ORIGIN, a new custom PC manufacturer founded by ex-Alienware executives, has unveiled its first pair of gaming systems: the GENESIS PC desktop and EON18 laptop.
Both models put style customisation at the forefront, with a swathe of colours and airbrushed designs to choose from (you can even send in your own graphical designs). Squarely aimed at hardcore PC enthusiasts, each ORIGIN system delivers a high-end gaming performance characterised by overclocking, liquid cooling and dual-GPU graphics cards. In short, the company aims to pick up where the original Alienware left off.
“Many boutique computer makers have forgotten what’s important to gamers and become just another corporate entity,” says Kevin Wasielewski, ORIGIN's CEO and a co-founder. “ORIGIN is the return of the real gaming PC — customisable, best performing, hand painted and hand built.”
The GENESIS PC desktop is completely customisable right down to the chassis, while the EON18 laptop sports an impressive array of components under its made-to-order hood. Highlights include an 18.4in Full HD widescreen LCD, a dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M graphics card, 8GB of dual-channel DDR3 RAM and a dual-layer Blu-ray disc burner. Naturally, all these specifications can be chopped and changed to suit your needs and budget.
To give its wares that extra bit of 'oomph', ORIGIN has partnered with Killer Paint; a collective of airbrush artists best known for their leading-edge paint jobs in the auto industry. Killer Paint will airbrush each PC chassis by hand to match your specific tastes and requirements. Artistic gamers can even send in their own designs, or work with a design specialist who will tailor a system to match their personal style.
For hardware, ORIGIN has teamed up with PC gaming brands such as Fatal1ty to ensure customers receive high-grade components. Each system is also subjected to a three day burn-in test which includes game benchmarking and installing all the latest drivers.
In an attempt to one-up its competitors, ORIGIN is offering a lifetime phone and online support service. This is something that no other gaming PC manufacturer currently provides. The company has already won Microsoft's seal of approval, with US OEM vice-president Eddie O’Brien stating; "Origin's customisation and service is something gamers worldwide will want to experience."
